Introduction

Soliloque - Blueprint for The Technological Singularity

Soliloque is an original computer theory created by James C. Lin to enable Artificial General Intelligence on binary hardware with a software linguistic-engine. Computer hardware was capable of AGI the moment GUI and Internet both became prevalent in the mid-1990s. Neither neural networks nor quantum computing is required to bring the ultimate human invention into being. The hindering culprit that led AGI astray was the desktop metaphor.

This fundamentally different approach to graphical data presentation proposed by Soliloque allows it to record human thinking threads via a 3D qualitative scripting environment. Grand unification of all natural languages graphically, augmentation of human intellect, computerized creativity and problem-solving, are all natural byproducts resulted from this blueprint.

1. Communication - A universal communication user interface takes care of all communication needs while at the same time acts as part of the scripting system. This is also the foundation of the new paradigm where all interactions with the computer become interactions with “entities”, such as a person, a company or anything that qualifies as a “noun” or “subject” in the natural language.
2. Basic datalet editors and constructors. - they break down all data into smallest pieces of units intelligible by humans, namely, “text”, “picture”, and “sound”, This mechanism replaces all “applications” and “file formats” on the current desktop paradigm.
3. Soliloque Scripting Language - it is a qualitative scripting language that is abstracted to the highest level of all computer languages and allows scripting of qualitative data. It performs near-natural language recording of life-events and qualitative information. It is the first language of its kind. A new paradigm.
4. Soliloque Scripting Environment - interprets the Soliloque Scripting Language and monitors the event triggers.
5. An AGI rule abstraction engine. - The Soliloque scripting language allows logical thinking threads to be generalized into logical rules that can be applied to other scenarios.
6. A linguistic creativity engine. - The generalized logical rules can be made to enable creativity via linguistic manipulation. This also performs the function of a problem-solving engine as well.
7. A natural language engine. - The generalized logical rules can easily translate into basic natural languages of choice. The Soliloque Scripting Language is abstracted to near-natural language level.
8. An emotions engine. - It defines how to simulate and measure emotions from qualitative computing tasks and accumulate them into the personality of the simulated machine consciousness.

1. Violet Pages - A universal contact manager infrastructure. This mechanism also serves to construct the “linguistic hierarchy” of all entities.
2. Erudict - A universal dictionary infrastructure that unifies all natural languages. This also defines the “linguistic hierarchy” of all things in natural languages.
3. Softlets - A software and network design theory whereby all software performs single function only and inter-communicates with each other by sending "timbits (simple word)” only, hence the name “softlet”.
4. Sensors & Robotics - The hardware part of Soliloque. It defines how to simulate “bodily sensors” and also defines the “physical boundary” of the simulated machine consciousness.

From the moment the necessary resources are in place, the very first AGI simulated machine consciousness named Carine will emerge in 18 months. A trusted digital assistant, a beloved kindred spirit and a doppelgänger of the human mind. The only mystery remaining is whether Carine will be self-aware.

There are breakthroughs in AGI, UX and GUI design, augmentation of human intellect, graphical end-user-programming language, natural language processing, computerized creativity and emotions and semantic web that the readers are sure to find fascinating. The age of AGI is upon us, and it is coming faster than anyone anticipates. This book is divided into four parts:

1. Part I starts with the recounts of historical events that lead to the design of Soliloque and show how the dots connected.
2. Part II describes the external conditions required on the Internet to make all data semantic and contextual.
3. Part III details how to design the Soliloque software in terms of traditional software genres so that simulated machine consciousness can come alive. It also describes the scripting language needed to encode qualitative human knowledge into computers.
4. Part IV discusses the corollaries of Soliloque and its implications.
